General Information
The Park is owned and operated by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Environmental Management. Ames Nowell is approximately 607 acres in size. The Park fronts on Chestnut Street, Linwood and North Quincy Streets but has identifying signs only on Linwood Street. The Park's rugged terrain and undisturbed stands of virgin white pine and hardwood attract hikers, horse/bike riders, nature enthusiasts and fisher persons during the warmer months and cross country skiers in the winter. The pond is considered to be too shallow so swimming is prohibited. CLICK HERE for the state Dept of Conservation & Recreation website page on Ames Nowell State Park For a Trail Map CLICK HERE
